Business: Regional Public Transit Authority
Project: Develop strategy and plan for community relations and information program.
Method: Worked with a three-member team to perform current situation assessment, develop strategy and implement marketing and press relations activities.
Results: Completed with satisfaction.
Business: Electrical/Communications Equipment and Controls Contractor
Project: Help VP and staff responsible for a new division to improve interpersonal communications and develop team work. Provide individual coaching to sales manager on interpersonal communication and management skills and his handling of personal authority.
Method: Used

Results: Marked improvement in relationships. However, this would be temporary unless there are follow up sessions and continued sponsorship and modeling by VP. He was made aware of this. It became clear in this work that the division/group needed strategic planning help. Boss concurred and will likely sponsor this at some point.
Business: Healthcare Association
Project: Help HR director develop a new and more effective process and tools for employee performance management. Includes design of an evaluation instrument, method and training of all managers and supervisors in the use of the process and tools, and in evaluation skills.
Method: Worked with HR director in iterative process to design the tools and method, and co-design training program.
Results: Designed an instrument and process to evaluate three areas: task/job performance, work behaviors and accomplishment of annual objectives. Delivered training to 45 managers and supervisors.
Business: Healthcare
Project: Help VP and her staff of nine directors improve interpersonal communications, learn teamwork, increase openness and cooperation, and reduce conflict. Facilitate annual directors’ retreat.
Method: Used

Results: Marked improvement in relationships. Improved role clarity and mutual support and cooperation. Helped two directors learn how to resolve conflicts with peers.

Project: Help Owner/President with business management and leadership skills; strategic planning with management staff; establishing role clarity of managers and helping president with role and exercise of personal authority; help president understand how to hire appropriate and thereby more effective employees for the kind of work her company does. Help develop business and marketing plans. Help identify, analyze and improve business processes.

Results: Significant improvement in the president’s ability to manage her company and getting it reorganized to most effectively take advantage of managers and employees abilities; and terminated services of one particular manager who was the source of much disruption and conflict.

Project: Strategic planning and process improvement.
Method: Used own strategic planning models and process improvement materials.
Results: A very satisfied client. Helped him (owner/president) make decisions affecting direction of the company and deployment of key people.

Project: Started off with strategic planning and ended up with a reorganization of top management and termination of two VPs and hiring a new president.

Results: Company stayed in business and got another infusion of venture capital.

Project:
(A) Develop senior-level management performance evaluation process.
(B) Help Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer develop
leadership/decision-making skills and work with entire department
on team building.
Method: Worked with elected and top appointed officials to review and
revise county mission statement and establish values they wanted to use
for measuring manager performance. Designed performance evaluation
instrument and process. Used
DecideXâ
in both (A) and (B) above. Regarding (B) employed personal coaching/counseling and own team building model.
Results: Completed design of evaluation instrument and process. Helped Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer improve their leadership skills, reorganize the department for increased effectiveness and prepare staff for major Information Systems conversion project.
Business: Specialized pollution measuring equipment
Project: Help two owners improve their business and working relationship; improve overall organizational interpersonal and intergroup communications; introduce and establish conflict management; implement process improvement methods; and reorganize a number of departments.
Method: One-on-one coaching/counseling and “couples” counseling with owners, facilitate staff and team meetings; teach conflict resolution model; teach process improvement skills and methods.
Results: Mixed. Finally helped owners resolve their conflict with a “divorce,” but the company was saved.
Business: Software
Project: Work with senior, mid-level and first line managers in developing their leadership skills and improving intact work group effectiveness; trained project management skills and “rescued” a major project; helped reorganize the Manufacturing Department.
Method: Used survey feedback, coaching/counseling, interactive facilitation, “hands on” guidance.
Results: Significant improvement in management skills and work group performance, a major “in trouble” project being completed on time and within budget, and a much more efficient manufacturing organization.
Business: Computer and communications systems sales and service
Project: Work with three owner partners on improving their work relationships.
Method: Used Cooperative Workplaces model.
Results: Significant improvement in skills needed to effectively communicate and resolve conflict. Helped them uncover and deal with a significant trust issue.
Business: Hospital, Home health service and hospice
Project: Work with cross-organization group of managers in understanding work relationship.
Method: Used Cooperative Workplaces model.
Results: Improved awareness of work behavior styles and how these interrelate, improved communication and conflict resolution skills. Help several in the group resolve “live” conflicts. All-in-all, work relationships were greatly improved across the several organizations represented.
Business: Public transportation
Project: Help members of major department work more cooperatively.
Method: Used Cooperative Workplaces model.
Results: Helped participants understand their own work behavior styles (patterns) and those of others and how these were contributing to some of the work relationship problems they were experiencing. Helped them understand basic theories, skills and applications of effective interpersonal communication, and understand various decision-making and leadership styles and the differences between making decisions and influencing decisions and inherent conflicts when these differences are not clear.
