Safety Guidlines
Although the Washington State Patrol and
local police departments continue to let us know that we are doing a
great job of “policing” ourselves, it never
hurts to revisit the issue of safely. Here is a very simple and basic set of
guidelines for personal conduct at OSOT rallies:
Remember, you are responsible for
your own safety (and the safety of your children) at OSOT
- Behave in a professional and orderly
manner
- Never resort to violence, threats,
profanity or racists remarks
- Treat law enforcement officials with
all due respect
- Stay on sidewalks and/or designated
areas for rally. Do not block the entrances to businesses and keep
sidewalks clear enough for other pedestrians to get by.
- Do not obstruct traffic in any way
- Respect the First Amendment rights of
others
- Keep a distance between our group and
any counter-demonstrators
- If count-protestors or hecklers are
present, do not engage them with insults, obscene gestures or profanity
- Signs and flags cannot hang out into
the street or over railings on overpasses
- Signs must not contain profanity or
racist slogans
- Obey all local laws and traffic
regulations
