Pays Less Taxes Than Median Family
For a long time
Steve Forbes has been advocating a flat tax. He says this is
the only way to make sure the rich pay their fair share of taxes
due Uncle Sam.
Now we know why
Steve Forbes wants the flat tax. Wealthy individuals such as
Teresa Heinz Kerry pay less in taxes, proportionately, than
does the median U.S. family.
This fact was illustrated
to us by a NewsMax reader, Robert Clay of California.
Mr. Clay writes:
“According
to HUD, the median family income for the U.S. for 2003 was $56,500.
After applying the standard deduction of $9,500 for married
filing jointly we end up with a taxable income of $47,000. This
puts the average family in the 15 percent tax bracket. Kerry’s
wife, using tax shelters, managed to pay only an effective federal
tax rate of 11.5 percent, compared with the top federal income
tax rate of 35 percent. She paid $587,000 on an income of $5.1M.
“If Kerry
wants the rich to pay more he should start with his wife.”
Despite the release
of partial financial information, John and Teresa Kerry have
not explained why, if it’s so important for the evil rich to
pay more taxes, they didn’t add a voluntary addition to their
check to the IRS.

who have sacrificed, for some their lives, to bring freedom

What you might not have heard is that the incident and its investigation
were announced to the world by the military on January 16, 2004

Let’s see. On one hand we have a handful of stupid American
kids insulting, ridiculing and humiliating a some naked Iraqi
prisoners. On the other hand, an American is filmed being beheaded
in a scene more gruesome than anything even Hollywood could
dream up.
Enough already. The time for self-flagellation and gnashing
of teeth over Abu Ghraib is over. Get off Rumsfeld’s back. Level
Fallujah. Give al-Sadr 24 hours to turn himself in to the AMERICANS
or hunt him down and wipe him and his “soldiers” out.
Ditto al-Zarqawi.
Let’s be honest here, folks. Somehow we HAVE gotten off track
in Iraq. We stopped killing bad guys and started making nice
with the “international community.” With regard to
Nick Berg’s beheading, White House spokesman Scott McClellan
referred to the perpetrators as “enemies of freedom.”
BS. They’re murderers and animals; scum of the earth. McClellan
said we want to “bring them to justice.” No we don’t;
we want to send them to hell. Why can’t we call a spade a spade?
It’s WAY past time to stop talking softly and wearing kid gloves.
Frankly, we’ve reverted to handling this war on terrorists the
way it was handled under the previous administration. Let’s
hope Nick Berg’s murder shocks the White House and the nation
back into reality. Cut the Marines loose and finish draining
the swamp. Enough pussy-footing around. Time to get serious
again. Finish the job. Kill or be killed. Do it to them before
they do it to us…again.

fast food. Sometime back I took a favorite shirt to the dry
cleaner shop. The Asian woman had no problem taking the shirt
and later the money. When I got home with my clean shirt, I
found it ruined. I took it back…she conveniently spoke no
English and was unable to understand the problem. After coming
close to strangling her, I walked out and never went back. I
found a dry cleaner owned by Koreans who speak excellent English…needless
to say, they’ve had my business ever since.

DEMOCRAT vs DEMOCRATIC
I often hear and read,
in various contexts, about the “democratic” party. If people
knew what they were talking about, they would say the Democrat Party
as they say the Republican Party. From my perch, I would say that conservative
Republicans are the ones who truly believe in being democratic as opposed
