AREA
CHAIR ROLE DESCRIPTION
Practitioner faculty in designated
content areas working with the Campus College Chair (CCC) to ensure the
quality and relevance of the curriculum.�
The Area Chair is responsible for chairing the Content Area
Subcommittees at the campus.
1.�������� Prepares
and teaches courses in one�s area of expertise.
2.�������� Coordinates
Content Area Subcommittee meetings with the Campus College Chair.
3.�������� Chairs the
Content Area Subcommittee meetings providing facilitation of the Master
Curriculum Agenda.
4.�������� Provides
ongoing input to the Campus College Chair on curricular issues on behalf of
content area faculty and shares appropriate information with the faculty.
5.�������� At the
discretion of the Director of Academic Affairs, the Area Chair may
participate in other academic activities.
Qualifications:
1.�������� Two years
active teaching experience with UOP (minimum of 6 courses in program content
area.)
2.�������� Exhibits a
commitment to the University’s teaching/learning model through adherence to
academic policies and procedures and teaching excellence.
Appointment:
Recommended by Campus College Chair and affirmed by the
Campus Director of Academic Affairs.
Term of Appointment:
2
years with second term.
