What
would be truly shocking to the American people is the profit motive that
is involved (in the Democrat obstruction of the president’s judicial nominations).
It isn’t just about ‘abortion rights’, the battle is about abortion profits.
The axis of profits that under girds the fight in the Judiciary Committee
is the axis between trial lawyers – who want particular types of judges
who rule in particular ways on their cases – and not the ‘abortion rights’
lobby but the abortion clinics lobby.
The
abortion rights lobby is just a front for something worse which is the
abortion clinics’ lobby, represented by the National Abortion Federation…That’s
where the money is. That’s what is really happening here. When you combine
it then with the interests of the labor movement then you start seeing
that the effort to control the judiciary is really an enormous and well-orchestrated
profit making business.
STUPID
CONSERVATIVES?

I am a conservative,
born and raised in the South, and I’m fed up and fighting mad – not with
the honorable President George W. Bush – but with threats from conservative
‘leaders’ that the conservative base will stay home on Nov. 2 (“Evangelicals
frustrated by Bush”). Conservatives made similar threats against
Mr. Bush’s father in 1992, and the result was eight miserable years under
Bill Clinton. All that the ‘leaders’ of the conservatives did for eight
years was whine and complain about the social peril this country was in
under Mr. Clinton. “…You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I
used to have respect for all of you, but now I have none. You are simply
ungrateful contrarians. You should remember the lessons from eight years
of Mr. Clinton and four years of Jimmy Carter. Stop your threats to stay
home in November and do everything you can to get every single conservative
voter to the ballot box to vote Bush-Cheney. And if you don’t and you
stay home, then the next four or eight years of a John Kerry or Hillary
Rodham Clinton presidency will be a direct result of your actions and
stupidity.

goes the war? No, not Vietnam. The other one. You remember. It was in
all the papers until a month ago when Vietnam returned for a Democratic
Party dinner-theater tour starring Massachusetts’ answer to Robert Goulet.
Can’t get into it myself. I dozed off the other day watching a White House
press conference in which President Bush was asked nary a question about
anything that had happened since 1972, and I dreamt there was a muffled
explosion from al-Qaeda down the street blowing up the Capitol. And, when
it had died away, the press corps brushed the plaster dust off their suits
and said, ‘But, Mr. President, critics point out that National Guard pay
stubs from the ’70s are notoriously easy to forge…’ “

KNOW MUCH ABOUT HISTORY

Vietnam is not likely
to be a major campaign theme after all, despite much GOP smoke-blowing
on the subject. Still, a worthwhile Republican commercial would be one
that addressed Mr. Kerry’s much-repeated canard that he ‘stood up against
Richard Nixon’s Vietnam War.’ Americans don’t deserve to be misled about
their own history. Who got us into Vietnam and who pulled us out could
be set straight with a simple ad featuring two pieces of data: U.S. troops
in Vietnam at the end of Lyndon Johnson’s last term: 530,000. U.S. Troops
in Vietnam four years later, after the first Nixon term: 170,000.”
Is
a Republican Mutiny in the Works (by Ron)
While
I’m not happy with all of what President Bush is doing, I won’t join a
mutiny. This decision comes after a great deal of “waffling”
on my part…daisy petal picking: I love him, I love him not. Well, I
don’t love him and I don’t not love him, and I will vote for him. The
decision is made as I consider what looks like the alternative. I’m going
out on a limb here when I predict that if Kerry is elected president,
terrorists will see this as a green light to upping their activities,

Strange Dream…or maybe not so strange (by

Five
years ago would you have even thought that men would be marrying men and
women marrying women as they are in San Francisco? Could you have conceived
even in the most imaginative manner that the Mayor of a major city would
be suing a state government to overturn constitutional language that defines
marriage as a relationship solely reserved for a man and woman?
Now
that the inconceivable is reality, perhaps you won’t find my dream especially
far-fetched.
I
dreamt I was at the County Clerk’s office where marriage licenses are
issued. There was a long line. In the line there were numerous loving
combinations of applicants. Among them were men with men, women with women,
men with young boys, a man and a goat, a woman and a rather large dog,
a woman with some kind of ornamental plant, a man with three women, a
woman with a man and woman…well, there were a number of interesting
combinations. The woman and snake was a little disconcerting, but then
to each his own, I thought. Oh, I don’t want to forget the two ducks,
whom I assumed were together. I had no idea of their respective genders,
but thought there would be some difficulty in signing the paperwork.
When
I awoke from my night’s rest, or restlessness, the dream was very much
on my mind. It occurred to me that perhaps my dream was not as far-fetched
as it first sounds. I thought that just maybe the concept of the “slippery
slope” might have an application here. What we call diversity,
that is, tolerance of all and any variations, no matter how deviant, of
historically accepted norms of behavior, is inexorably moving towards
acceptance of perversity. As perversity increases, I suggest that adversity
will increase, as well. More and more of us will find ourselves resisting
perversity or what, in my opinion, the diversity pushers really want,
a culture of acceptance at the expense of traditional American values
and beliefs, or actually the destruction thereof. As perversity is mainstreamed,
the culture will further adversely fragment and at some point there will
be nothing left to hold the nation together.
I
believe what we call marriage is a special relationship between a man
and woman. Anything else is a desecration. Some say it is special for
reasons of procreation. I think it is much more than biological. I believe
that, yes, it falls under natural law, but more importantly, it falls
under God’s law. As left-wing secularism and socialism continue to infiltrate
our culture, God’s relevance declines and aberrations such as homosexuals
being seen and treated as married couples will become the norm.

Marriage is, as its traditionalist defenders say, a ‘sacred’ institution.
But for that reason it should be protected by churches, synagogues and
mosques, and not by the state.

who make such a fuss about the ‘threat’ of same-sex marriage are in fact
playing to bigotry, hoping to make gains from a widespread irrational
dislike of a small population. It is especially hard to avoid this

heterosexual marriage, there is a much more serious threat they could
be
taking up: adultery, which also happens to be condemned by our traditions
and history at least as strongly as homosexuality is.

WINDY CITY MIGHT BE NEXT FOR GAY MARRIAGES
“Mayor Daley said Wednesday he would have ‘no problem’ with County
Clerk David Orr issuing marriage licenses to gay couples — and Orr said
he’s open to a San Francisco-style protest if a consensus can be built.
‘They’re your doctors, your lawyers, your journalists, your politicians,’
the mayor said. ‘They’re someone’s son or daughter. They’re someone’s
mother or father. . .I’ve seen people of the same sex adopt children,
have families. [They’re] great parents. Some people have a difference
of opinion — that only a man and a woman can get married. But in the
long run, we have to understand what they’re saying. They love each other
just as much as anyone else.”
“A devout Catholic, Daley scoffed at the suggestion that gay marriage
would somehow undermine the institution of marriage between a man and
a woman. ‘Marriage has been undermined by divorce, so don’t tell me about
marriage. You’re not going to lecture me about marriage. People should
look at their own life and look in their own mirror. Marriage has been
undermined for a number of years if you look at the facts and figures
on it. Don’t blame the gay and lesbian, transgender and transsexual community.
Please don’t blame them for it,’ he said.

A COMPROMISE EVERYONE CAN LIVE WITH
“The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is certainly constitutional,
and
amending the Constitution unnecessarily is a bad idea. But I grant that
some federal judge might disagree with me and set off a national panic
before being clobbered by the U.S. Supreme Court. So if the problem is
the
worry that federal judges will impose Massachusetts’s gay marriages on
the entire country, the way to take care of that would be to constitutionalize
DOMA.
“The sample wording I give in my book is: ‘Nothing in this Constitution
requires any state or the federal government to recognize anything other
than the union of one man and one woman as a marriage.’
“That’s an ironclad guarantee that the states and federal government
can all go their own ways, without any national court mandate. This is
consistent with federalist principles. It’s consistent with three centuries
of marriage being in the states’ purview. It keeps overweening federal
judges out of the picture. (Activist state judges are the states’ business,
so long as no state can impose its own decision on others.) It prevents
the polarization and culture war that nationalizing this debate will spark.
It would be a cinch to enact, at least compared with the Federal Marriage
Amendment sponsored by Musgrave et al. And it’s in tune with what a majority
of Americans are telling the pollsters — namely, that this issue should
be left to the states.”

“The same (Vietnam War) record Mr. Kerry wields as evidence of his
leadership abilities is also used by his harshest critics, who question
the severity of the injuries he used to get sent home early and the five
medals he garnered in five months. ‘If I got three Purple Hearts for three
scratches, I’d be embarrassed,’ said Ted Sampley, who fought in Vietnam
and publishes U.S. Veteran Dispatch. He remembers soldiers turning away
awards for minor injuries.”

when you can get evangelical Christians to do your work for you.

nor do they understand just how our local and federal governments were
originally supposed to interact with one another. OK … here’s a quick

licenses. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the governor of California … not
George Bush. It’s state law that’s being flouted in California, not federal
law. President Bush has enough on his plate without getting involved in
local and state matters.”

CLELAND FILE
John Kerry has been using triple-amputee and former Georgia Sen. Max Cleland
to beat up on President Bush over his National Guard service. Democrats
are
“clearly implying — without stating — that Cleland lost his limbs
in
combat,” writes columnist Ann Coulter. However, “It is simply
a fact that
Max Cleland was not injured by enemy fire in Vietnam. He was not in combat,
he was not — as (Wall Street Journal columnist) Al Hunt claimed — on
a
reconnaissance mission, and he was not in the battle of Khe Sanh, as many
others have implied. He picked up an American grenade on a routine noncombat
mission and the grenade exploded.”
