My
thoughts on Kerry –
I
came home from Vietnam in 1970 having spent 13 months there without once
experiencing the awful crimes that Kerry accuses me and thousands of other
Vietnam Vets of having committed. If anything, I saw a great deal of generosity
and kindness extended to Vietnamese by US military personnel. If anything,
I saw us held back from winning a war by soft-bellied politicians in Washington
and left-wing anti-war rats such as what Kerry became in order to chart
a path into the US Senate. Today, Kerry is using vets in an effort to
worm his way into the presidency. I refuse to be used by this man and
at every opportunity will speak out against him for his disingenuousness
and hypocrisy. As you read Mr. Buckley’s address,
you will come upon a quote of Kerry’s, in part which reads “…who
returned with a sense of anger.” I didn’t return with a sense of
anger. In fact, I didn’t get angry until I realized how shabbily I was
being treated by many of my so-called fellow Americans…today, I find
myself “with a sense of anger” at even the possibility that
Kerry could be the next president.
