Citizen activists commend Seattle Council for pro-troops

resolution

SEATTLEOperation Support Our Troops, a group of local citizen activists

who support American troops in Iraq, has issued a statement of thanks to the

Seattle City Council for passing a resolution supporting the Armed Services.

In its resolution passed Monday afternoon, the Seattle City Council stated,

“We wholeheartedly support and appreciate the brave men and women serving in

the United States Military.”

In the Operation Support Our Troops announcement following the resolution

vote, it was stated, “Our troops in Iraq deserve nothing less than our most

sincere appreciation. That is why we are proud that the Seattle City Council

has passed a resolution expressing thanks to the troops and the president on

behalf of Seattle residents. Though we wish the resolution had been passed

earlier, we are satisfied that the City Council has followed through with its

commitment to patriotism and public service.”

The announcement continued, “We extend special congratulations to

Councilwoman Jan Drago for her sponsorship of the resolution, as well as

Council members Jim Compton and Margaret Pageler for their co-sponsorship. We

urge Seattle residents to contact their council members to commend them for

their courageous and patriotic stand.”

Operation Support Our Troops is a coalition of veterans, military families,

and other citizens that was formed several months ago to rally around the

Armed Forces and the president during the war in Iraq.
